Here are the two videos mentioned at yesterday’s rehearsal to help you with the German text for “In Stiller Nacht.”
This week’s rehearsal will focus on “Choose Something Like a Star,” “Swingin’ Deep and Low,” the German pronunciation for “In stiller Nacht,” and if there’s time, “Bye Bye Blackbird.” Study tracks for the voice parts for all of these songs are available, so please take a few minutes to review them. Because of our limited timeline before the concert, we want to spend our rehearsal time on polish, not plunking out notes. Stay warm and we’ll see you tomorrow night!
More study tracks have been posted for our February concert. You can find them under the Membership tab in the navigation menu, or by clicking on this link.
Working with these will really help us all be prepared for this concert- which is only three and a half weeks away!- and will prevent the need for long sectionals, for those of you who don’t enjoy that sort of thing. At this point the only tracks which remain to be completed are for “Bye Bye Blackbird” and those should be up by the end of this week. Happy practicing and we’ll see you on Thursday!
Rehearsals for our spring season start this week! We’ll be jumping right in with a full run-through of everything, so please take a few minutes to brush up with the study tracks. We only have a few weeks before our joint concert on February 12, so we’ll want to make the most of every rehearsal.
See you at Wasilla High School at 7:00pm on Thursday!
If you weren’t able to attend our December 15th rehearsal and you are planning to sing with us this spring, you may wish to arrange to pick up your music so that you can spend a little time getting familiar with it before rehearsals resume. Our joint concert with the Mat-Su orchestra will be coming up quickly, so we want to be on top of our game! You can arrange to get your music by contacting Barbara McDaniel at barbara1@mtaonline.net. We look forward to seeing you in January!
We hope that you are having a lovely, restful holiday! Our rehearsals for the Spring season will begin on Thursday, January 12. In the meantime, please take some time to work on your music with the help of the study tracks under the Membership tab. Nearly all of the music for our February concert with the Mat-Su Orchestra is posted already, and the rest will be coming soon. Stay warm and happy practicing!
…to a New Year’s Eve party hosted by some of our very own choir members! Sharon Hein spoke about this at our concert, but you can go to the Facebook event page for more information.
RSVPs are appreciated but not required. Last year’s party was a rousing success, so please feel welcome to join in the celebration!
…before Christmas break! We’ll spend some time patting ourselves on the back for a concert well done, and we’ll be handing out music for our joint performance with the Mat-Su Orchestra coming up in February. Then we’ll take a few weeks off before resuming rehearsals on January 12th. Stay warm and come ready to sight-read some fun songs tomorrow!
This is just a quick last-minute reminder that tonight’s rehearsal is at St. John’s in Palmer. See you there at 7:00!
Hello Singers!
We hope you had a very Happy Thanksgiving! We’re down to the wire – only two more rehearsals before our Christmas Concert! Here are a few things to keep in mind as we prepare.
Sponsor-Your-Singer forms and ads for the program are due by this Thursday’s rehearsal, December 1st. Please turn your forms and money in to Linda so that the concert program can be completed. We’ll be rehearsing next week, December 8th, at St. John’s in Palmer rather than at Wasilla High. This is our dress reherasal but no, you don’t have to be in concert dress! But do make sure that you have all the things you need for your concert attire, and ask your section leader if you have any questions.
By request, study tracks have been added for “Huron Carol.” Please take time over the next two weeks to work with these tracks or rehearse your music on your own as much as possible. Be ready to run through all of our music, including small group pieces, at our final rehearsals. And don’t forget to join us for caroling at Colony Christmas on Saturday, December 10th!
Thank you for all your hard work this season and for giving it your all in this final push to concert time!
